Recovering access to the Appliance Manager

Reasons why the Appliance Manager might be unavailable  Top

Two possible reasons why you cannot access the Appliance Manager are as follows:

What to check  Top

If the NetCache appliance appears to be running but the Appliance Manager is unavailable, complete the following steps.

Step

Action

1

Try entering the URL for the Appliance Manager again.

You might be using the incorrect Admin Port number in the URL for the Appliance Manager. The default value for the Admin Port is 3132.

If you changed the default value of the Admin Port option and forgot the number, you must restore a previous configuration backup file. See the topics on backing up and restoring a system configuration file in the Appliance Manager online Help for more information. Also, see Using the config command to manipulate the NetCache configuration for information about how you can create configuration backup files from the command line.

2

Check the NetCache appliance's interface configuration.

Use the ifconfig command at the console to check the interface configuration. See Configuring an interface using the ifconfig command for more information.

3

If the interface configuration is correct, use the telnet command to try to access the console from a workstation to determine whether the console is available.

4

If the console is available and there are no visible error messages, reboot the NetCache appliance.

See Rebooting a down NetCache appliance for instructions.

5

If rebooting the NetCache appliance does not work, call Network Appliance Technical Support.

See Section G, Contacting Network Appliance Technical Support for information about how to contact Technical Support.
