To determine whether the NetCache appliance is running, complete the following steps.
| 1 | Try to access the Appliance Manager. If you are unable to access the Appliance Manager, see Recovering access to the Appliance Manager. |

Check the NetCache appliance's network interfaces to make sure that the management workstation can access the appliance. See Configuring an interface using the ifconfig command for more information. |
| 3 | If you still have not found the source of the problem, try to access the console using the telnet command. |
| 4 | ||
The system might have halted during a boot process. Go to the console and press Enter. |
| 5 | Check the LED indicators on the NetCache appliance. See the hardware guide for your NetCache appliance model for more information about the LED indicators. |
| 6 | If you are using a terminal server and the NetCache appliance seems to be up but you cannot enter commands from the console, check all connections between the NetCache appliance and the system where you are entering commands. For example, if the terminal server is in a failure mode, it does not take your input. In this case, reboot the terminal server. |
| 7 | If it still appears that the NetCache appliance is down, follow the procedure described in How to reboot a down NetCache appliance. |
| 8 | If you still are not successful finding the problem, use the telnet command to access hostname admin_port hostname proxy_port |

NetCache is probably not running; a network problem might exist that is causing the problem, or the cache may not be accepting requests from your IP address. |
