You need to determine whether to run one or multiple protocol services on a specific center or edge cache. For deployments with heavy traffic loads, Network Appliance recommends that you configure a GRM agent cache for a single service, such as streaming media or Web service. Deploying dedicated GRM agent caches improves hit rates and bandwidth savings. Smaller deployments with lighter traffic loads might be able to run multiple services on a single GRM agent cache without affecting performance.
If you plan to constrain GRM domains, as described in GRM domains and their use for IP address filtering, ensure that you consider the protocols that are running on each center and edge cache. If, for example, you set a domain filter for HTTP and RTSP, the GRM server will return only the IP addresses of the GRM agent caches that are configured for both HTTP and RTSP.
After you have configured your GRM agent caches, you can see information about the protocols they support on the GRM Server - Caches page in the Appliance Manager (Data tab > GRM Server > Caches). This information will help you to configure your GRM domains if you plan to constrain the IP addresses that the GRM server is to return in response to a request.
