Viewing existing bandwidth allocation rules

Viewing the bandwidth allocation rules  Top

If you have existing bandwidth allocation rules defined, you can view these rules in the Current Bandwidth Allocation Rules table.

Description of the Current Bandwidth Allocation Rules table  Top

The following table provides descriptions of the fields in the Current Bandwidth Allocation Rules table.

Field

Description

Delete

Click this field to delete the listed aggregate bandwidth management rule.

Edit

Click this field to edit the listed bandwidth allocation rule. Clicking this field displays the Edit Bandwidth Allocation Rule page.

Rule #

Shows the number of the listed bandwidth allocation rule. Earlier-numbered rules are applied first and have precedence over later-numbered rules in the event of bandwidth pipe assignment conflict.

Protocol

Shows the protocol of the packets to which the listed rule applies.

Action

Shows the action associated with this rule.

  • allow -- Indicates that a particular flow is permitted without bandwidth pipe restriction.
  • deny -- Indicates that a particular flow is completely denied service.
  • other -- Indicates that the packet flow associated with this rule is assigned to a bandwidth pipe. The bandwidth pipe ID number and the bandwidth space of the pipe (indicated in bits or bytes per second) are displayed.

Filtering
Options

Shows additional parameters that restrict the set of connections to which this bandwidth allocation rule applies. This field might show the following parameters.

  • from addr [port]--Indicates that this rule is restricted to connections from a specified source IP address and optional port number.
  • to addr [port]--Indicates that this rule is restricted to connections directed at a specified destination IP address and optional port number.
  • user username [, username]--Indicates that this bandwidth allocation rule applies to the specified user or users.
  • not user username [, username]--Indicates that this bandwidth allocation rule does not apply to the specified user or users.
  • group groupname [, groupname] --Indicates that this bandwidth allocation rule applies to the specified group or groups of users.
  • not group groupname [, groupname] -- Indicates that this bandwidth allocation rule does not apply to the specified group or groups of users.
  • server traffic--Indicates that this rule is restricted to traffic between this appliance and upstream servers from which this appliance retrieves requested data.
  • client traffic--Indicates that this rule is restricted to traffic between this appliance and its clients or other downstream nodes.
  • in--Indicates that this rule is restricted to incoming packets.
  • out--Indicates that this rule is restricted to outgoing packets.
  • time - time --Indicates that this rule is restricted to connections that are active during the specified time period.
  • via interface--Indicates that this rule is restricted to traffic transmitted from or received at the specified interface.

First-numbered rules take precedence  Top

If multiple bandwidth allocation rules are configured for one appliance, the rules are applied in the order in which they are numbered in the Current Bandwidth Allocation Rules table. If a category of connections is included in two bandwidth allocation rules that assign it to two different bandwidth pipes, the earliest numbered rule is the one that determines the bandwidth pipe to which this category of connections is assigned.
