Determining the configuration requirements
Decisions to be made
After you have planned for the basic configuration of your NetCache appliance, you should decide how you want to optimize your NetCache appliance to function as a Web cache on your network.
While you read this chapter, you will determine whether you want to do the following:
- Specify types of content to be proxied and cached
- Configure the appliance to drop or maintain specified client connections
- Specify how the appliance will respond to canceled requests and reload requests
- Specify object refresh rates
- Control user access to HTTP services
- Configure the appliance to not provide the client IP address to the Web server
- Suppress error messages that refer to the presence of a proxy-cache server to clients
- Configure the appliance to forward, tunnel, or redirect specified types of traffic
- Configure the appliance to support FTP
