NFS and Kerberos
Kerberos can be used to provide authentication between Vservers and NFS clients.
Kerberos is a network authentication protocol developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kerberos uses encryption keys to provide authentication for client/server applications. Authentication provides verification of a user's or process's identity to a server. In the Data ONTAP environment, Kerberos is used to provide authentication between Vservers and NFS and CIFS clients. For more information about Kerberos, see web.mit.edu/kerberos/www/.
