Configuring deduplication on a volume
If you have not configured deduplication when you created a volume, you can do so later from the Edit volume dialog box. Deduplication saves storage space by eliminating redundant data blocks within a FlexVol volume.
Before you begin
Deduplication license must be enabled on the storage system.
Steps
1.
From the Home tab, double-click the appropriate storage system.
2.
In the navigation pane, click Storage > Volumes.
3.
Select the volume for which you want to configure deduplication.
4.
Click Edit, and then click Storage Efficiency.
5.
Select Enable storage efficiency.
6.
Select one of the following schedules:
•
•
Deduplication is automatically run when 20 percent new data is written to the volume.
•
7.
If you choose the Scheduled option, set the schedule by specifying the days on which you want deduplication to run, and the number of times and frequency at which deduplication is run.
8.
Click Save and Close to save your changes.
