What an Infinite Volume is
An Infinite Volume is a type of volume contained in a Vserver with Infinite Volume that provides a single mount point for clients to access data. An Infinite Volume is a single logical entity that can scale to multi-petabyte storage.
An Infinite Volume enables you to manage your data using one large logical entity. A single junction path connects the Infinite Volume to the Vserver to provide a single mount point for NFS clients.
The Infinite Volume uses the storage provided by multiple aggregates in a cluster. You can expand the storage capacity of the Infinite Volume by adding more disks to the aggregates used by the Infinite Volume, or you can add more aggregates to the cluster for the Infinite Volume to use. As a result, you can scale the Infinite Volume to use the increased storage capacity. You can scale an Infinite Volume to hold up to 2 billion files.
