Restoring a volume in a vault relationship
You can restore Snapshot copies to a source or other volumes if the source data is corrupted and is no longer usable. You can use System Manager to replace the original data with the Snapshot copies in the destination volume.
Before you begin
•
•
If you have added the source cluster after you have opened the destination cluster management window, you must close the management window and log in to the destination cluster again to view the source cluster.
•
Peer relationships might be in an unhealthy state due to various reasons—for example, intercluster LIFs between the clusters are down. In such cases, you might be able to successfully create vault relationships, but subsequent operations, such as initialization, might fail.
•
Steps
1.
From the home page, double-click the appropriate storage system.
2.
Expand the Storage Virtual Machines hierarchy in the left navigation pane.
3.
In the navigation pane, select the Storage Virtual Machine (SVM), and click Protection.
4.
In the right pane, click the vault relationship, and then click Operations > Restore.
5.
In the Restore dialog box, restore the data to the source volume in the vault relationship or select any other volume:
a.
Select Source volume.
Select Other volume, and select the cluster and SVM from the list.
•
If System Manager is unable to retrieve the credentials of the selected cluster, you should use the Authenticate link to enter and save the credentials.
6.
If the source and destination clusters are not in a peer relationship, use the Create Peer link to create a peer relationship between the destination cluster and the source cluster.
7.
If you want to change the default name, displayed in the format destination_SVM_name_destination_volume_name_ restore, specify a new name and select the containing aggregate for the volume.
Select the Select Volume option.
8.
Select the latest Snapshot copy or select the specific Snapshot copy that you want to restore.
