The SSL protocol
The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol improves security by providing a digital certificate that authenticates storage systems and allows encrypted data to pass between the system and a browser. SSL is built into all major browsers. Therefore, installing a digital certificate on the storage system enables the SSL capabilities between system and browser.
System Manager no longer supports SSLv2 and SSLv3 versions. If you want to manage Data ONTAP versions 7.3.x, 8.1.x, and 8.2.x using a secure communication protocol, you must ensure that the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol is enabled on the storage system. If TLS is disabled, System Manager uses HTTP to communicate with the storage system.
