| Switch to Data ONTAP Cluster-mode documentation. |
Coincident with the GA release of Data ONTAP 8.1 (Cluster-Mode), we consider our PowerShell architecture for Cluster-Mode stable and complete. Toolkit 2.0 extends our Cluster-Mode support with 86 new cmdlets, for a Cluster-Mode total of 461.
In Toolkit 2.0, ConvertTo-NaVhd can convert a dynamic VHD to a thin, fixed VHD using Data ONTAP's rapid copy-offload feature. Use this capability to resolve alignment issues without consuming additional space. This feature supports both LUNs and CIFS shares, so it is ready for Windows Server 2012.
In Toolkit 2.0, ConvertTo-NaVhd can convert an entire LUN to a VHD file in another LUN. This capability is great for physical-to-virtual migrations.
A new cmdlet, ConvertTo-NaLun, can convert a VHD file to a LUN. Use this cmdlet with virtual-to-physical migrations.
Toolkit 2.0 adds four cmdlets to start and monitor NDMP copy operations between different NDMP endpoints. This feature is useful for copying data between aggregates or controllers (7-Mode or Cluster-Mode). The cmdlets are Invoke-NaNdmpCopy, Start-NaNdmpCopy, Stop-NaNdmpCopy, and Get-NaNdmpCopy.
Toolkit 2.0 continues building in support for Windows Server 2012, which will support Hyper-V over SMB. New-NaVirtualDisk now supports rapid, thin VHD file creation in CIFS shares, and Remove-NaHostFile now seamlessly removes files in CIFS shares.
