Setting space reservation using the storage access control tool

You can use the storacl.exe tool on a Windows host to set the space reservation option for any volume on a storage system.

Before you begin

Download and install the storage access control (storacl.exe) tool from the ToolChest section on the NOW site at http://now.netapp.com/ to any Windows host to create the ThinProvision.xml file on your storage system in the /etc directory of the root volume.
HTTPS must be enabled using the options ssl.enable command and secureadmin setup ssl command on the storage system.
You must be logged in as root on the storage system.

About this task

Note: The storage system access tool provides command-line Help and usage information. Enter spacereserve help at the storacl.exe prompt for a list of additional commands and how to use them.

Step

Run storacl.exe from your Windows host, and then enter the spacereserve set command to set space reservation on the specified storage system volume to either True or False.
A file named ThinProvision.xml is created on the storage system to store the space reservation settings you specified.
Note: The default value is set to True on storage system volumes that do not have space reserve set in the ThinProvision.xml file.
