If your storage system has more than one IP address, you can configure SnapDrive for Windows to use one of those addresses as the preferred IP address for management traffic.
About this task
Even if your storage system has only one IP address, setting a preferred IP address prevents issues from occurring if additional interfaces are added later.
Note: Setting a preferred IP address is not a substitute for proper name resolution. The host and storage system names must still be resolved by DNS.
Steps
Under SnapDrive in the left MMC pane, expand the instance of SnapDrive you want to manage, then select Disks.
Right-click Disks and select Properties from the menu.
In the Disks Properties window, click the Preferred Storage System IP Addresses tab.
Enter the storage system name and preferred IP address for that storage system in the spaces provided.
Note: If you are using an iSCSI HBA in your storage system, do not set the IP address of the target HBA as the preferred IP address. Instead, use the IP address of the storage system’s management port.
Click Apply.
Repeat Step 3 and Step 4 for each storage system on which you want to set a preferred IP address.
