Performing the basic installation process

This section provides the basic steps you follow to install SnapManager 3.1 for Microsoft Exchange. Other sections in this chapter that describe how to install SnapManager for various configurations refer to this section for the installation steps.

Caution
Do not perform these steps until instructed to do so in one of the previous installation procedures.

Installing the SnapManager software

To install SnapManager 3.1 for Microsoft Exchange, complete the following steps.

Caution
Do this from the system console, not from a Terminal Services client.

Step	Action
1	Insert the SnapManager CD-ROM or download the install package.
2	Browse to the SnapManager install package and double-click the installation executable (SME3.1.exe or setup.exe) to launch the installer.
3	Follow the instructions in the install wizard. You need the following information: Customer name and organization Destination folder for install Server license key (for per-server licensing only) Account name and password for the service account for SnapManager. Note This account must have the required permissions. For details, see Service account requirements.

Insert the SnapManager CD-ROM or download the install package.

Browse to the SnapManager install package and double-click the installation executable (SME3.1.exe or setup.exe) to launch the installer.

Follow the instructions in the install wizard.

You need the following information:

Customer name and organization
Destination folder for install
Server license key (for per-server licensing only)
Account name and password for the service account for SnapManager.
