Configuring filer SysLog and Autosupport

About filer Syslog and Autosupport  Top

If Autosupport is enabled on the filer, NetApp Technical Support is notified automatically by e-mail about filer problems when they occur. You can use the Filer Autosupport tab to enable Autosupport for SnapManager and to enable filer Syslog support.

The autosupport daemon monitors the filer's operations and sends automatic messages to NetApp Technical Support to alert them to potential filer problems. If necessary, NetApp Technical Support contacts you at the e-mail address that you specified to help resolve a potential system problem. The autosupport daemon is enabled by default on the filer.

For more information about Autosupport, see the System Administration Storage Management Guide for your version of Data ONTAP.
