Methods for archiving your SnapManager backups

There are different methods for collecting the necessary parts of the SnapManager backup set for archiving. They each have their own advantages and disadvantages. Read the section for each method to decide which one works best for your organization. The three methods are as follows:

Use NDMP or the filer's dump command to archive the LUNs containing the Exchange data and the SnapInfo directory directly from the filer to the archive medium.

Mount the LUNs in a SnapManager backup snapshot and share it, then use NTBackup or another Windows backup utility to copy the LUNs' contents to the archive medium.

Create an Exchange copy-type backup directly to the archive medium using an Exchange-aware backup application.
