As newer backups are made, older backups and logs for older backups get deleted. Because an up-to-the-minute restore operation is possible only if the logs are present, you can perform an up-to-the-minute restore operation from archive backup only if local log backup exists. Therefore, restoring from an archive backup is usually a point-in-time restore operation, and not an up-to-the-minute restore operation.
