Changing the SQL Server user account

You can change the SnapManager service account used to run SnapManager backup and restore operations.

To change the SnapManager service account used to run SnapManager backup and restore operations, complete the following steps.

Step

Action

1

Open the Local SnapManager Server Properties dialog box. There are two ways to do this:

  • From the SnapManager main window, go to the menu bar and select Options > Run SnapManager As.
  • From the Connect to SQL Server dialog box, click Change.

Result

The Local SnapManager Server Properties dialog box appears and displays the name of the current SnapManager account for this SQL Server instance.

2

Select the SnapManager service account that you want to use to run SnapManager on this system:

  • If you want to change the SnapManager service account on this instance, select the The Launching User option.
  • If you want to make SnapManager accessible from a remote SQL Server instance or within an MSCS environment, select the This User option. This option is selected by default.
3

If you select the This User option, also do the following:

    1. Either enter the user account in the User box in DomainName\UserName format or click Browse to select the domain and user name.
    2. In the Password and the Confirm Password boxes, enter the password for this user account.
4

Click OK.

This change will not take effect until you exit this SnapManager session and any currently running SnapManager jobs have completed. After you start a new SnapManager session, any SnapManager operations, such as backup and restore, will run under this newly specified account.
