Use the Modify SQL Server Maximum Worker Threads Parameter screen to view and change the maximum number of worker threads allowed per SQL Server instance. For more information, go to any of the following topics:
SQL Server uses extra worker threads to perform a Snapshot-based database backup. To back up multiple databases on a single SQL Server instance concurrently, you might need to increase the maximum number of worker threads allowed for that SQL Server instance. If an SQL Server instance has more than 255 databases, you should increase the default setting.
The Modify SQL Server Max Thread Option screen displays the following information about each SQL Server instance.
This column displays the name of the SQL Server instance.
This column displays the current maximum number of worker threads configured for this SQL Server instance.
This column displays the recommended maximum number of SQL Server worker threads for this SQL Server instance. This value is calculated based in part on the maximum number of databases that can be backed up concurrently.
The maximum number of databases that can be backed up concurrently is configured in a previous screen of the Configuration Wizard. For more information, see Using the Number of Databases that Can Be Backed Up Concurrently screen.
