Each of these configuration steps is detailed in this chapter.

8.1. Defining a DDE Access Name for Cascade Connect

To define the DDE Access Name:

  1. Open your InTouch application using the WindowMaker program.

  2. Select DDE Access Names from the Special menu.

  3. This will open the DDE Access Definition window. Click Add to open the Modify DDE Access Name window:

  4. Enter the information as shown in the figure above, then click OK and then click Done. These fields are explained below:

DDE Access Name. A reference name used within InTouch so that you can link tagnames to this DDE channel.

DDE Application/Server Name. The DDE Server Name of Cascade Connect is displayed here. This name is the name published by Cascade Connect when it starts, in order to handle DDE conversations. It is the same as the Cascade DDE Service option in the Cascade Connect Setup window, and is listed as myservice in the configuration file.

DDE Topic Name. The DDE topic for Cascade Connect is displayed here. This name is the same as the Cascade DDE Topic option in the Cascade Connect Setup window and is listed as mytopic in the configuration file.

Handling of initial data values. Cascade Connect will accept either of these options.

When to advise server. Some versions of InTouch have a problem updating data points that appear on more than one screen. In our tests, this problem was fixed by selecting Advise all items. This problem may have been fixed in later versions of InTouch.
