8.3. Defining Tagnames from other datahub domains

Note

This section applies only when the Cascade DataHub is used.

When Cascade Connect is started, the configuration file specifies which, if any, Cascade DataHub domain should be considered to be the default domain for this particular Cascade Connect link. The default domain is the domain in which most of the information passed to the Windows client resides. If you are using more than one Cascade DataHub then you will need to decide which one will be configured to be the default. All points that come from another Cascade DataHub domain need to be prefixed with the name of the domain so that the Connect Server can locate the correct Cascade DataHub.

An example of this syntax is as follows:

    remote@LIC99_SP

whose elements are defined as follows:

remote

The domain name. This is the name of an alternate domain, which must be defined in the Cascade Connect configuration file. See Domain Settings in the Configuring Cascade Connect chapter.

@

The domain separator character. The default separator character for Cascade Connect is the colon (:). Unfortunately, InTouch does not recognize the colon as a legal character in a tagname so the @ character is being used in this example instead. The mapping of a colon to an @ symbol takes place within the Windows Cascade Connect program, and is defined in the Domain Separator in Domain Settings of the Setup window.

LIC99_SP

The tagname, which is the name of a variable from the named domain,
