The TCP/IP Settings area of the Cascade Connect Setup window provides an area to define the TCP/IP name(s) of the host computer(s) that you intend to gather data from.
Server IP Addresses is a list of names of computers that are searched in sequence when Cascade Connect starts, in an attempt to find a Cascade DataHub or non-Windows client program. During startup, or during a restart after a period of communications break, Cascade Connect will walk the list, starting from the top and working down, looking for a TCP/IP name which will accept a Cascade Connect connection. Entering multiple host names allows for the configuration of redundant host nodes.
To add a host name, type the name into the host name entry field at the bottom of the list and click the Add button. The up and down arrows are used to change the order of names in the list. To delete a name, select the name in the list and click the Delete button. There is no default for this field. The configuration file syntax is:
host hostname
host hostname
.
.
.Multiple entries are written one per line.
TCP Service allows the user to change the TCP/IP Socket assignment that Cascade Connect uses. The default is cascade. The configuration file syntax is:
tcpservice servicename
![]() | Normally, this parameter should not be changed, as any change requires a change in the TCP/IP services file under both Windows and the data server. |
